Thanks Eric. It was a great day. To think that I contemplated not coming out since I'd been out there a few weeks ago. We saw areas I've never been and the hike up Lawson's Peak was fun. Next time we'll bring some gear and make the peak. I'll be feeling it tomorrow I'm sure. Great day, great trail, great company... What more can you ask for? :D I needed the break. I'll process my pics and get them up soon.

Really good pictures there, Eric! Thanks for settin' up this run. I had a great time, and I'm glad that I didn't bust up my axle. Just have to try harder next time! :D

I looked up that info on Lawson's Peak. We needed to do some shimmying to get to the tunnel to the top. Turns out that debris didn't fall into that notch. If you look in the picture below you'll see what we thought was that loose rock below the guy in the picture. The caption below the picture was next to the picture on the website describing where to go for the route to the top. I can't find the image of the ladder. I believe it was in the "Afoot & Afield: San Diego County" book. My friend at work has a copy. I'll check it out.
Climb up this slot on the north side and then climb out an opening at the far end of a tunnel to reach the top.

Yep, that's right, Ollie. Here's what it says in Afoot & Afield In San Diego County:
The fun begins as you plunge ahead through low brush and boulders east and north of the summit block. Just below the summit on the west side is a near-vertical fissure with abundant hand-and-foot-holds. At the top of this is a narrow rock cave. By groping 15 feet or so into the darkness in the back of the cave, you'll find an opening above. By mantling up onto a ledge, you'll reach a broad shelf with a view to the east. Nearby is an easy route to the topmost boulders on the peak.

Does it show a picture of the ladder?

Nope. I also looked for pictures of it on the interweb but didn't find any. None of the info I've seen even mentions it. We may have been able to make it up there today anyway. Next time for sure!
