Roger, I'm back to DX. I don't do 80...............I'm not old and cranky enough.....yet, hihi!Fetus wrote:Roger... Just put out a call.
Update at 0306Z, no joy.
I could barely hear what I thought was you calling. I'm going to be on 80m later on tonight and see how it is.

Well, I have been away from the forum lately and missed the attempts at a net. I just recently got my antennas tuned and tuner working. I have a Yaesu 857D with ham stick antennas for 10m, 15, 20, 40, and 75/80. I would like to try as well. Is anyone still up for trying on 80?

I'm up for it. Though I'm working weekends right now.

Our "net" didn't really happen. We were all too close to make it work. Since you are in SD, that may make a difference. Part of my equipment is out for some mods and I wont be HF capable for about a week. After that, if you want to set something up, post away.

Well...
I am finding that I haven't been able to make reasonably local contacts on 80. I have made DX contacts to Florida and others on the east coast, but anything less than a couple hundred miles is no joy. I can receive low audio, but no one hears me. Possibly the low performance of my inexpensive ham sticks. Even DX is marginal.

We had the same problem. For contacts less that 100 miles, it was just a no go. I could hear them but that was about it. The group that tried this were all in the LA area. San Diego may be better???
With your altitude, we may be able to make it happen.
