My street and neighborhood flooded yesterday

I couldn’t resist the temptation to get in my Jeep and drive around in the high water.
It’s built with enough lift to easily ford the flooded streets without getting stranded.

This is the storm drainage ditch that is supposed to carry away the water from my street.
As you can see it is way over its capacity.
I estimate this ditch to be about 12 feet deep and 18-20 feet wide at the top.
I have no idea how much water is going through there, but it’s a lot.
All that water came down in one downpour that lasted about 2 hours.

This is the intersection adjacent to the drainage ditch in the previous shots.
Several cars that tried to drive through became disabled while I was taking these shots.
There were several Hispanic men standing around waiting for cars to become stranded.
Then they would jump in and help push them out. It looked like they were having fun.

Mine looked like that today, minus all the people and houses, plus me and a Uhaul trailer sending waves of mud up over the highway.

You may need a boat someday. Wow, that's lots of water.

I heard there were folks tooling around in Kayaks down in Coasta Mesa yesterday. As long as your house is still dry its still fun.

Nice. With what just hit us in 29 Palms I bet that has doubled since you left. Looks like another one is right behind it.

Looks like fun... as long as everyone's homes stayed dry. ;)
