Re: Menu and Meal Assignments
I spoke with Dani, she's going to see what we can do about breakfast since there will be an oven at camp. For dinner, we can do 2 nights with the following (both on fresh baked bread/crust):
Chili in a Bread Bowl
Pizza

Re: Menu and Meal Assignments
I have found in the past that I can keep food frozen for seven to ten days using dry ice.
The last trip we made I still had some items that were still frozen when I got home.
I have researched the internet for a suitable refrigerator/freezer, but so far haven't
found one that fits my requirements or price range.I do have a very good cooler
made by LR OUTDOORS that has kept ice for five to six days out in the Mojave
when the temp was over 100 degrees
I think with the four freezers that are already available food storage won't be a problem.
We may have to shift things from coolers to the freezers during the trip.
From the past trips, meal prep times Breakfast/Dinner have usually taken less the two hours to
prepare. On travel days we would normally be on the road by 9:00 AM and setting uo for the
end of the day by 4:00 PM. That gave us time to set up camp and normally have the evening
meal before dark.
Once we get all the ideas and commitments to what everyone will be preparing, we will assign the meal
tasks to which day you get to impress everyone with your culinary skills.
As far as cooking equipment,we will cover that subject after the above is firmed up.
that way we shouldn't have to haul duplicate items. and use up valuable space.
A trip this long, with this size group space will be a premium

Re: Menu and Meal Assignments
I can make some dutch oven dinners:
1. Steak and vegetables.
2. Beef and vegetables. Perhaps something curry. I'll test some recipes before the trip.
Breakfast:
1. Breakfast burritos.
2. French toast and bacon.
I'll volunteer a dutch oven dessert one or two nights I'm not cooking dinner.

Re: Menu and Meal Assignments
Hello everyone
The meal planning tasks, once we get input to what everyone has volunteered to
prepare we can set up a schedule as far as what meals and days you get into the barrel
and get to express you skills to impress your fellow campers.
We will need to get a list of what type of cooking equipment that will be needed
to accommodate everyones need to prepare their meal.
I recommend we get togther and go over a list of cooking tools required for your
particular needs are addressed to insure we have the required equipment
to make the trip enjoyable for all.
If anyone has questions or concerns please PM me or post on the forum.

Re: Menu and Meal Assignments
This what I have so far, I tried to not have the same person cook twice in one day
or two days in a row. If anyone has questions or suggestions feel free to jump in.
Day #1
Breakfast= Omelet in a Bag (Tom)
Dinner= Beef Stew (Chazz)
Day #2
Breakfast= French Toast (Frank)
Dinner= Flank Steak (Dave)
Day #3
Breakfast= Breakfast Burritos (Bob)
Dinner= Chicken (Charlie)
Day #4
Breakfast= ????? (Bruce)
Dinner= Lasagna (Tom)
Day #5
Breakfast= Eggs/Potatoes/Ham (Bob)
Dinner= Spaghetti/Meatballs/Sausage (Bob)
Day #6
Breakfast= Breakfast Burritos (Charlie)
Dinner= Steak/Veggies (Frank)
Day#7
Breakfast= ????? (Bruce)
Dinner= Pulled Pork (Bob)
Day #8
Breakfast= Pancakes (Charlie)
Dinner= Chicken (Dave)
Day #9
Breakfast= Breakfast Burritos (Frank)
Dinner= Chilli (Chazz)
Day #10
Breakfast= French Toast (Dave)
Dinner= Chicken (Tom)
If I have someone down for something that won't work or the incorrect meals
let me know and I will fix it.
We will/may need Coffee, Milk, Orange Juice, Paper Plates,disposable Silverware, Paper Towels, Ziplock Bags
and anything else (HOT SAUCE) ??????
As we spoke about tonight the meal assignments are flexible and we can shift around the meals to meet the neededs
of our ability to keep the meat and other items from spoiling. Plus we can change things around in the field to
make things work around problems that pop up that we didn't take into concideration.
The needs for what gear we bring is pretty up to each of us, but if we are succsessful in our planning phase
we shouldn't have to carry things that are redundant.

Re: Menu and Meal Assignments
Bob:
Very nice.
I will volunteer to bring coffee - Seattle Mountain Colombian Supreme. I need to know how many coffee drinkers we have.
I think that Tom should be in charge of hot sauce. The downside here, if he brings it, will be a significant drop in comedy.
Thanks, Bob!

Coffee may end up being our "adult beverage" of choice, given that the Reservation is dry.
I don't know any tea drinkers, but I know that Larry is a member of the Tea Party. Will that do?
