Hi, the name is David from Alta Loma. I first want to say I have enjoyed each of the last few nets. The variety of topics is nice to hear, and not common with most 2m nets.
Little about myself, licensed as Tech in February of 1993. Was active until about Y2K, then due to work travel requirements, my radios seem to sit on the shelf. But, as my kids have gotten older, we starting spending more time outside . With that, I rediscovered my enjoyment of amateur radio and have been getting back into the hobby. In addition, been working on the old '91 Trooper for our trips up into the mountains or down Lytle Creek.
Have a friend who's with the San Bernardino Search and Rescue. Told me about Rescue Net on Tuesdays. From there I found out about this group. Like I said, lots of interesting things going on over here.
Over time, I hope to place some faces to voices heard on the net.
73,
David Hedd

Re: KD6IJQ - Checking in
Welcome aboard OAUSA, David.
We have a pretty diverse membership on this forum - folks with interests that span the range from off-road adventures to amateur radio, hiking, biking, camping; and lots of experience and information available as well.
We have several formal events each year in addition to the net, and if you are into the outdoors, and camping / off-roading, you might check them out. Scanning the forum, you'll also find many smaller "unofficial" events happening throughout the year. So, you'll find many opportunities to meet members face to face. As you've already mentioned, the Thurs night OAUSA net spans a wide range of topics, too. If there's a subject you'd like to hear discussed, please let us know.
We are in the planning stages for our Summerfest event, being held in Big Bear over the Field Day weekend this year. We'll be contesting, off-roading, hiking, camping, and in general, having a great time - so look for the sign-up thread and mark your calendar....
