2010-04-10: San Diego HRO Meet & Greet Report
What a great day. We had an amazing turn out and have 4 new hams and an upgrade to General. I have pictures to upload and will have them up tonight. Just wanted to get the report thread started.

Re: 2010-04-10: San Diego HRO Meet & Greet Report
This event was a lot of fun - and we had a great turn out, including many folks who had not been to an OAUSA event before (I expect we'll see some new members shortly
). The weather, which looked for a while like it was going to rain, turned out to be spectacular. The folks at HRO San Diego were extremely friendly and accommodating; they even created a few OAUSA Meet & Greet ham radio specials just for the event.
We had a group of folks from the Land Rover Club of San Diego show up, with a couple of awesome Defender 110s (I'm so jealous
), and a bunch Jeeps from Tierra del Sol were there, too. To my amazement, several Dirty Parts customers made the trek down to SD to say hi and check out the show. Even had the San Diego Police Dept helicopter pilot still in his flight suit, discussing my mobile amateur radio set-up with me (he's a ham, too). All in all, another very successful outing.
Here are a couple of pics:

Thanks for putting this together, it was good to see everyone. A bunch of sweet rigs in front of HRO, it doesn't get much better
Many thanks to Ollie and Hector for helping me with a couple of minor radio issues.

Look at that... Larry posted pictures.
Who says you can't teach an old dog new trick? (Actually Mythbusters busted that myth.
)
I really enjoyed seeing everyone there. Thanks to those of you who drove all the way from up north to check out the event. Especially Hector who came down on his Harley. Wish I would have got a picture of you driving off with that box strapped to the back seat of your bike.
I especially want to thank SANARC (San Diego Amateur Radio Club) for doing the testing session for us. What a great group. It was great to finally put faces to a lot of people I haven't seen but have only chatted with on this forum. The event officially ended at 2:00pm and Larry finally got his rooftop tent closed up around 4:00pm.
We had people still showing up. The parking lot was full of offroad vehicles by 10:30am. HRO did have very nice packages for sale and they are looking forward to the next event we want to have with them.

Ollie, post your pics too. The more the better. I could not make it, I was waiting on a delivery and then the Jeep needed to get the smog re-test (passed
amazing what a new CAT will do) then off to home to fab a antenna bracket for a fellow Jeeper.

Actually... Larry's pics are the pics I have. I was afraid he wouldn't post any so I down loaded his pics to my laptop at the event. I forgot my camera when I was packing everything up Saturday morning. Some folks on Expeditional Portal actually got some good pics too. Here's the link...photojeeper wrote:Ollie, post your pics too.
