Forum difficult to navigate
Forum difficult to navigate
I'm just the new guy, but this place is very difficult to navigate. There are WAY too many sections and sub sections, many with less than one page of threads. Instead of Board index ‹ Expedition Adventures ‹ Expedition Adventure Planning ‹ 2008 Mojave Preserve Run < Mojave Road Adventure: Jan 9-11th 2009 I would have something like Board index ‹ Expedition Adventures < Mojave Road Adventure: Jan 9-11th 2009. Do you really need an entire forum section for one single trip? :lol Many of these sections have more sub forums than actual posts. I'm sure i've missed tons of useful stuff that is buried in sub-sub-sub forums. Ok, enough bitching from the new guy.

Constructive criticism is not bitching...your opinion, even as a new member, is always valued at OAUSA - that's why we're are here. Your length of membership on this, or any forum, is not a reflection of your life experience or the value of your ideas...
If you feel there might be issues that could hamper the growth of this forum, it is always worth mentioning...

Re: Forum difficult to navigate
That is my feeling. Maybe the long timer's can find everything, but I was having trouble finding where i had posted, and what was a forum, and what was a post. I'm not new to forums by any means. I host my own forums for customers. http://www.tricktuners.com/forums/ I had trouble trying to decide how to setup my forums, and went buy the plan where i'd make sub forums as needed. I'm also vendor on multiple forums and probably a member on 50+ forums. (sometimes i don't have much to do at my job) This place is the most un-intuitive forum i've come across yet. Instead of making forum sections for stuff that should be a single thread, why not just sticky it? IMHO new users are going to be turned off by this forums structure.cruiserlarry wrote:If you feel there might be issues that could hamper the growth of this forum, it is always worth mentioning...

Can I set the default "days" on Active Topics to 1 (instead of 7)?

LOL. I don't know, but I think this proves my point! I just click view new posts and thats it. Having a "forum issues and requests" section is also a nice thing to have. (yes i know i said to add ANOTHER section, haha)Old Fart wrote:Can I set the default "days" on Active Topics to 1 (instead of 7)?

Re: Forum difficult to navigate
I understand what your saying. I have had several comments submitted to me via posts, emails, PM's and face to face on the trail about the navagation difficulty of our site. We will take a closer look and see what we can do. I'll try to present something at our next board meeting. As Larry said, all constructive criticism is more than welcome.
