Big Bear Pre Run

Post by ssc » Sat Jun 05, 2010 11:16 pm

Today was a bit of a pre run of some Big Bear trails. Thanks to Chazz for putting together a nice day and fun run. We had 7 rigs, led by Chazz and his wife Dani and tailgunned by Ollie and his son--who had the old BW, John as his navigator. So far, no damage has been reported by Ollie, but the weekend ain't over yet. Joining in the run was John in his 4-runner, Nick and his daughter in the FJ, Eric and his son in the 80, Brayden in his jeep and the Mamba.

Met at the Discovery center and then hit Gold Mountain, which proved to be a bit of a challenge, then over to Jacoby, where we enjoyed a nice lunch in the shade of the pines. Chazz then took us up to a peak for some poser shots and we didn't disappoint. I do not know what peak it was, so Chazz can fill in this blank. After the return to the 38, and some conversation, Eric and I headed home while the rest of the crew went to the camping grounds. A very nice day with great folks.

Regards, Steve

Nice pics - looks like everyone had a good time. Beautiful views, too - sorry I missed this one, but I'll be there for Summerfest in a couple of weeks ;)

Great pics Steve. They take forever to download. Can you resize them to 800x600? I am assuming you posted them full size and the forum scaled them for you?
The properties box says:
"3888px × 2592px (scaled to 988px × 659px)" and "3730px × 957px (scaled to 1005px × 258px)". The second is not crisp due to the scaling.

EDIT: when downloaded they look great, it's just the way the forum scales them.

I smacked a tree with my PS mirror and broke one of the mounting tabs. Now it wobbes really bad. Nothing a little exopy can't fix.

I think Ollie knocked his alignment out of whack too.

It looks like the group is doing Pontiac Loop today. I was looking at it on google earth and I can actually see some vehicles on the trail  (not current, probably a year old or more). There's at least 15 of them.

I bet it was much cooler than my trip to Yuha Basin today. Awesome pictures too by the way!

Well, he did manage to lose his HF antenna, get a few leaks in his on-board air hoses and rip a hole in the driver side CV boot. I swear I had nothing to do with it!

I was great weekend and good meeting up with everyone. I'll try to get up a few pictures later.
