2-meter repeaters in (near) the Mojave Preserve

Post by Chazz Layne » Thu Jul 08, 2010 6:57 pm

I'm headed out into the Preserve tomorrow and just realized there's a big gap in my memories for that region. Are there any 2m (or 70cm) repeaters with good coverage throughout the bulk of the preserve... that can be hit with a mobile omni?

I'm sure I can hit Keller with an Elk in a pinch...

Yes, there are three or four linked repeaters. As soon as the net is over I'll get you the info.

K6BB, on Sugarlump can hear and talk with 90% of the MNP on a standard mobile stick.
147.33+ 131.8

Also, any of the Bullhead machines and occasionally Upper Potosi.

Chazz:

There are three (and I think there is a fourth) linked repeaters that cover a large part of the East Mojave Desert. Beware - it has been about a year since I have used these machines;

Ludlow 147.285 + 151.4
Barstow 147.780 + 151.4
Newberry Springs 146.100 - 151.4

The fourth repeater was in Victorville and in the past, I have been able to keep in touch with members of our group as they entered Victorville and worked their way to our camp in the heart of the desert. There were also some private repeaters in the Baker and Halloran Summit area that see very little use. Good luck.
