Ultragauge OBD II Scanner

I was poking around for some info on the Scangauge II since I know quite a few people who have them, but have never really though about them. Anyway, I came across this. The ULTRAGAUGE , anybody know anything about it? It is a fraction of the price of the Scangauge II.

Looks interesting...

Not as compact as the ScanGauge II, but it does offer a few more functions, such as alarms for the gauges. The layout is also a little "busy", and might be hard to decipher will driving. The ScanGauge screen is very simple, and easy to read. Anyone here used the UltraGauge yet ?

The Ultraguage is pretty cramped visually but it seems like a good alternative. This is another option. Not as inexpensive as the Ultraguage but a helluva lot sexier and looking good is what counts, right? In all seriousness, I've been looking into getting something like this for awhile. With the OT-2, I like the fact that I don't have another piece of hardware mounted on the dash or hanging off the windshield. I've got enough trouble with trying to keep my wife from kicking the CB every time she puts her feet up...

It looks cool, so i bought one! (~$76 shipped before the rebate) I am an obdii junkie and love these devices (and the super expensive ones that reprogram the ecu). I am a dealer for PLX devices and they have a obdii wifi module if you want to use an iphone or android phone for $150. I have the older plx scanner and its ok, but i like the scangauge better. I have not used the wifi option because my phone is not supported (but i will get an android phone soon and will buy the plx wifi for sure) This option is so cheap that you can't go wrong. I ALWAYS keep a obdii code reader in the vehicle for all trips. Knowing what the MIL is for is a huge help if you get stranded.

I checked out the WiFi job, and a lot of the reviews stated that the connection dropped a lot. Overall it seems like a really cool concept, but I like to use MotionX on trails for tracking information so a wired stand alone scanner is what I'm going to get.

Its pretty cool. It takes a bit longer than others that i have on startup, and its not as customizable as the scan gauge. The buttons are on the back so surface mounting in not really an option. For the money its pretty cool.

Coupe of other notes regarding the Ultragauge:

Our customer feedback is the Ultragauge is not as accurate as the Scangauge II, is more difficult to read, has a "busier" screen and interface, more difficult to find a mounting location, and it has much higher failure rate...but it is half the price of a Scangauge II.

Of course, one of the reasons you use a gauge is for accurate information...

How did they determine that it was not as accurate as the scan gauge? Its not like you can use them at the same time. The refresh rate is slightly slower than the SG, but the SG is pretty slow too. Either way its still a great tool to throw in the vehicle to be able to pull codes or see whats going on if there are troubles. I have obdii readers in all of my vehicles. I will never be impressed by any of these small readers because I use obdii data loggers that run ~50-100Hz on 20+ channels. The auto tap is a great cheep tool for use with a laptop.
