Canon 7D, EF400mm f/5.6L USM, 2X Teleconverter
Settings were: f/11, 1/50sec, ISO 100, Focal Length 1280

Knowing our sense of humor here, I was hesitant, like John, to see the "moon".

Nice shot. How much magnification was used?

400mm - x2 - x1.6 sensor crop factor = focal length 1280mm

Steve, yes I just bought the 400mm f/5.6L this week.
I needed a new lens for surfing shots.
I gave serious consideration to the 100-400, but when it came down to it, I knew I would almost always be zoomed in to the full 400, and I liked the AF speed and IQ that a 400mm prime would deliver.
