2010 BorregoFest Prerun (9/28)

Post by OLLIE » Thu Sep 23, 2010 11:37 am

I'm looking for a second rig to tag along this Tuesday. I have a lot of ground to cover in one day and I normally solo truck this run. It's always a good idea to have another vehicle with you at least so I'm throwing it out there. We will be covering well over 100 miles of dirt traveling distance in one day. Probably closer to 150+. It will not be a race but we will be moving quite of bit of the time. We need to check trail conditions for the runs on the event. Things change over the Summer especially with all the siesmic activity this year. We will cover Oriflame Canyon, Charriot Canyon, Rodriguez Canyon, Stagecoach Trails Campground, Velicito Wash, Arroyo Tapiado, Arroyo Seco Del Diablo, Broken Shaft Gulch, Fish Creek, Split Montain, Carrizo Wash, Painted Gorge, and (time permitting) the Lost Ship of Pearls route. I will be carrying 5 Jerry cans of fuel and one Jerry can of water. I will have BorregoWrangler riding shotgun with me as well as one other coworker. DaveK will be joining us for the Oriflame, Chariot, and Rodriquez portion then bailing from there. All the fuel is probably not necessary but I don't want to divert for gas until I hit Ocotillo on the way out. You are welcome to share my extra gas if you you can't carry any.

If you can't get cans don't sweat it. I'm sure I'll have enough. If we top off at Julian gas station we should be covered. :)

We need to be back to the El Cajon area to drop John off between 6 and 7 pm so it won't be too awful late getting home either.

Let me see if I heard this right. Ollie driving a toyota with John riding shotgun, with the intention of covering alot of ground. Seems I have heard this recipe before. Shall we stand by for the damage report?

Be careful--Regards, Steve
