I arrived Saturday morning to greet fellow Touareg-owner VegasMatt at Bruce's cabin. VegasMatt was installing the 32" Nitto Terra Grappler tires he just acquired, so we pumped up the Air-Jack to get the other side done. Bruce has a Safari Edition Jeep. Soon after, Phil joined us in the Dodge for Saturday and brought his black Jeep for Sunday.
Just as we were leaving, we caught news of an Cessna 172 crash on Baker Pond and arrived moments later. We learned the plane landed tail-first into the lake; both occupants escaped uninjured and swam to shore. The aircraft sank very fast, vanishing within moments of arrival.
Once cleared, we met up with a couple other offroaders who had new/rebuilt toys and visited all three east-west ridges - Holcomb Valley, Skyline, and the HeartBar / Coon Creek Cabin. Along Holcomb, we explored Poligue Canyon, the ranch, saloon/pond, and a play area near John Bull. We also got a run up to Bertha Peak to the radio towers. On Sunday we explored a trail north of Coon Creek Cabin.
Awesome time!
