SHOOTING RANGE LOCATIONS AND EVALUATIONS

Post by DaveK » Tue Mar 18, 2008 1:00 pm

If you live in the West, particularly in California, finding a decent shooting range is getting harder and harder. They are out there though. If you have information on good ranges in your area, please post the details. If you have used the range, give us your impressions.

For those lucky enough to live in areas where shooting ranges are more common, let us know what you have.

Recently the San Gabriel Valley gun Club closed its range in Monrovia. For my money, it was the best around. It seems to me that there is another range, albeit slightly smaller, in that area. Does anyone have any info on it?

California Rifle and Pistol Association Information

I just came upon this info. CRPA's website has a very extensive national registry of known shooting ranges for the entire USA. For those looking for a place to shoot, this is a great start. See http://www.nrahq.org/shootingrange/findlocal.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; .

Angeles Crest is a good outdoor range. They've got skeet, pistol, rifle (500yds), and silhouette ranges.

210 fwy, exit Osborne, 2-3 miles up little tujunga (going by memory - i *think* that's the name of the road! Head up towards the mountains and you'll find it).

Try the WEST END GUN CLUB where the 15 and 215 meet. It is a fantastic all mode range. They have a 600 yard for you snipers
They have contest every weekend, open to the public

Do they have a web site? I'm interested in going there. I might actually be able to open mine up at 600 yds.

Hi all,
Prado is a nice range and they have shotgun and pistol ranges. They also have IDPA shoots.

Raahauge's in Norco is a nice range and they have many activities, check their website. They have trap and skeet open to the public. There are IPSC shoots every Sat open to the public. I am a member so I can go to the pistol range 7 day a week. There is also a rifle area, again for members.

I use to belong to west end, but to much in the way of politics. The rifle and pistol range is usually open to the public on weekends. The other ranges are for members only including the 600 yard range. They have many different shoots on the weekends that are open to the public. I think they have a website.

There is a good range in Redlands. I think it is called the fish and game shooting range. They have ranges open to the public. They have a very good rifle range. You should check with them before going out as it is a members range as well and sometimes they have activities.

I use to shoot at a range in 29 palms, but I don't know if it is still open. I also shot at the Palm Springs gun club, but I hear they may try to shut it down.

There is an indoor range in Riverside called the Magnum indoor range on Sampson. It is OK if one wants to shoot indoors and they limit the type of ammo you can use.

We also have a shooting range on Catalina Island, Members only. Once in a while we do have an IPSC or steel match which is open to the public, but after the fire I don't foresee anything soon.
