Big Bear or Cleghorn this weekend! 6/05/08

Post by big dave » Tue Jul 01, 2008 6:07 pm

Steveo from rugged rocks with the solid axle Pathfinder and I and a couple of our friends are going on a run this weekend. The original plan was to visit Big Bear, but Cleghorn is a possibility. My preference is Big Bear. You know you guys want to come, itll be a great day. This will be the first time ive had a chance to take my Pathfinder out with this group, so come celebrate!

Dave,

I would be interested in either. I am kinda leaning towards Cleghorn just because i`m wondering if there will be a billon people up at Big Bear being a holiday and all. Those pictures of you guys last year at BB is the trail I tried to do in the snow and turned chicken. Saturday the 5th at 9 am sounds great. It would cost alot less in gas to go to Cleghorn also. Let me know which one you guys choose.

Cool it would be great to wheel with you. Steve and i are still debating on which area we are going to run. You have a good point about the weekend being a holiday. I kind of thought at first it would be nice and clear, but thought a little more and now im in agreement with you

Ill post traffic concerns to Steve and see what we can come up with. So far it looks like a nice group of approx 5-10 rigs :)

This sounds interesting. My wife has to work this whole weekend so I was thinking of sneaking on up to Big Bear early on saturday and exploring some easy to moderate trails. The cb is out of the rig right now so I wasn't planning on running with a group. I'll keep an eye on things here and ya know for sure here soon.

Hey guys,

The whole group is meeting at the Big Bear Discovery Center at 9:30am. Im leaving my house here in Norwalk pretty early, then making a stop in the San Bernardino area to fuel up my main tank, and my 5 gallon, and also add a friend to the group. Then im heading up to Big Bear from there. I want to do this all pretty fast. Id rather have time to burn in Big Bear, than arrive late.

If anyone wants to caravan, you can meet me in Norwalk about 5:30-6am, or in San Bernardino. SB meeting point will be established later tonight, or tomorrow morning when i speak to my friend.

See ya this weekend!

Dave,

Big Bear it is then. I`ll meet you guys up there at the Discovery Center. I`ll probly leave here early early to make sure I don`t hit traffic. If I get there to soon i`ll just grab breakfast or a nap or something. It will be a blast. ( Just for public notification I`m not doing John Bull  ) I need to be able to drive it home when i`m done. This is going to be a fun day. Temps will be cooler than Cleghorn also. See you all there. Steve
Dave I was reading your post on So Cal FJ and you said your skids made it thru Gold Mountain. Do I need skids to do Gold Mountain? I`m lifted but not armored. If I need skids i`ll still meet you up there and then i`ll do some of the easier trails that I have seen up there. Let me know. thanks Steve

For those meeting with us in the morning at the San Bernardino stop, we are doing it at the AMPM in the Wal Mart parking lot at California exit off the 10 fwy. Be there between 7:30-8am!

I never thought a day that turned in disaster for me could be so fun. We had a large mixed group of Jeeps, Fj, Mog, me...

Afterward my friend Jim and i ran 1N12 to the bottom of the 38. Its very beautiful up there!

Ill post my casualty list on the trail run reports forum.

Dave,

Glad you made it ok. Have you ever been on that trail before? I hadn`t and it got tougher as we went. When we got to the end a few of the other guys said they were going to John Bull i`m assuming they went. Me and Jim were done so he followed me out to the road. I was going to look for you at the trail head to make sure you were still running but Jim said you were ok and he was going to meet up with you. Thanks for the invite it was stressfully fun ;) I am going to get some more armor under my rig before I go back though. Glad your day turned out cool. Jim said they would post up some pictures so make sure you remind them. Until the next trail run...Steve
