Story: After selling my offroad trailer, I figured it would be wise to have suitable accommodations for our next adventure. So I proudly dusted off our backpacking tent and presented it to my wife with a cheesy grin. "Oh no, this won't do" All that comfort we had become accustom to on the trailer really narrowed our choices when it came to ground tents. She didn't want a roof top tent and the requisite ladder climb into bed. My wife insisted on something that could be set up quickly. It had to be tall and large enough for her to change in privacy and comfort. It would be nice if it wasn't made of nylon so we could sleep in early summer days. So, with chin upon fist and elbow upon knee, I began to think of all the cool tents I had owned or seen over the years. The only thing that came to mind as a potential solution was the OZ Tent, for it had all the attributes she was looking for. Fortunately, I had seen one in person thanks to Bajataco showing me his setup at the expedition trophy a few years ago. I was impressed by the quality of construction, easy of setup, built in awning, and copious amount of space created by this amazing tent. I also liked some of the accessory features I might want to add down the road, such as the zip on side panels or the ability to connect the tent the vehicle easily. Overall, I think it is the best tent ever designed, every detail is well thought out and executed.

Great you say, but why the heck are you getting rid of a perfectly good, brand new tent then? Good question. Just before we left on the first trip of the summer, my wife outfitted her truck with a Flip Pac that meets her specifications, thereby making this tent obsolete :sombrero: As much as I would have liked to use the Oz Tent, sleeping in the Flip pac is pretty dang sweet. I'm very new here, but some of the folks here on OAUSA met us at the national field day event.

**possible trade items...I have a pair of 1st gen tacomas xtra cab & dcab. I would like a decent winch bumper for the one of them, perhaps other parts such as armor, lights, etc.
also interested in HAM radio, I'm reading about it right now, so I could use some radio gear too.

I looks like a pretty cool tent, but probably not much of a desert tent considering its high wind profile. I do like the huge shaded patio, that's pretty sweet!

I thought the same thing when I first saw it. Suprisingly, it sheds the wind very well, much better than a dome tent or larger canvas tent like the Spingbar (both of which I have owned) of similar size. I camped with a couple who had an OZtent last November in the KofA range. We were in a pretty exposed location and had to endure a bit of wind for hours. They just parked thier jeep and tent inline with the wind and connected the intergal awning to their roof rack. The wind, even when it changed directions, didn't effect their setup. The frame is very rigid and there are multiple built in tie downs and guylines. Check out the pictures on the OZTent website to see how people are using them. http://us.oztent.com/Your-OZTENT/

Here's a video of me setting it up on my driveway yesterday, which demonstrates the tent and my lack of potential as a film maker  Click on the picture to view the video at photobucket.
