'04 Tacoma FlipPac Build

I finally took delivery of the FlipPac camper from Adventure Trailers for my '04 Tacoma this weekend. I'm looking forward to building the interior.

Has anyone tried using 80/20 extruded aluminum T-channel for framing of cabinets? It looks like it would allow for precision building using only a chop saw and it should yield a strong yet light weight structure.

I believe that extrusion will work fine for your purposes as long as you don't plan on putting real heavy loads on it. I've used it for projects here and there.

I love the FlipPacs too. They are a real nice touch. What does the inside of the shell look like when it is closed? Is there much room to pack stuff?

The FlipPac has more interior room than the original shell that came on the truck since the sides extend beyond the sides of the bed, are nearly vertical, and taller. The interior cover keeps the top material and bows stowed above so the interior is completely open when the top is folded. Mine has a bit more room inside since the Tacoma has a full 6 foot bed unlike the truck in the video.

Very nice! I know one guy who has a top like that on a Tundra I think. Very comfortable!!!!!
