Calico 4-1/2/3-11

Post by FishPOET » Mon Apr 04, 2011 8:15 pm

I had a busy week at the shop. I ended up working Friday morning for a couple of hours. I left Norco at 1pm and was in camp in Mule Canyon by 3pm.

Michael, Jaime, Roger, LeAnne, John, Dennis and myself did a Friday late afternoon run on Phillips Loop and Kramer Arch.

I sat around the campfire until 10pm and called it a day.

Saturday we all met at Peggy Sue's for breakfast. Peggy Sue's was busy and service was slow :(

We left Peggy Sue's at 8:40 and headed for Hinkley. From Hinkley we went North to Black Canyon and on to Inscription Canyon.

With the group so small we had some extra time and Mat & Tiffany had never been to Rainbow Basin. Down Fossil Bed Rd we headed.

On the way back to camp I made a quick trip up to the entrance to Odessa Canyon.

Dinner was at Peggy Sue's. I sat around the campfire until 10pm.

Sunday Christian led a run to Bismark Mine. Along were Tom, Kassidy, John, Dennis and myself.

I left Calico at 11am and I was home by 1pm.

Another fabulous weekend in the desert.

Great pics and report, sorry I missed it. Glad you made it out to Rainbow too, that's an added bonus.

Nice pics Doug.
We had planned a trip to Carrizo Plain that weekend or we would have done black canyon with you. Looks like the rock art is great out there.
I have wanted to check that area out for some time. Maybe next time we can tag along.

Those are great pics. I go out there often for good day of exploring and wheeling. I have a quick question maybe someone here could answer for me. Do you know anything about this trail I found out there?Image
We found it on the phillips loop. I had just got off a hell of a trail we got on by mistake so I wasn`t in the mood to see what this one was going to throw at me. I literally had to crawl up a wall and point the nose of truck to the sky just to turn around. I had to do this 4 or 5 times and I ended up crunching the drivers side of my FJ. :D . On my gps it looked like it was going to hook up to duran scenic loop. It looked like a decent trail just had my nerves frayed and didn`t want to get caught again. Any info would be great. Thanks Steve
