I am leading a group of TDS members and others on the Bradshaw Trail on April 16 - 17, 2011. Anyone interested? If you were at the SoCal Rendezvous, you know the beauty of the area. Here is a chance to see the trail from end to end.
Come along and see the historic Bradshaw Trail. Trace the path of one of the oldest Indian and stage routes across the Colorado Desert, and see spectacular scenery and historic artifacts.
When: April 16-17, 2011, 7:00 am
Where: Meet at the Arco Station, Highway 86 and S-22, Salton City
The trail runs from the northeast side of the Salton Sea, east to the Colorado River.
Who: All are welcome.
Communications: Ham Radio 147.480 Mhz Simplex, CB Channel 14. Trailboss will primarily be on Ham Radio.
What: The plan is to camp overnight near the near 4x4 Training Area off S-22 (approximate GPS N33º 15’ 41.1”, W116º 01’ 02.0”), and leave 7:00 am Saturday morning from the Arco Station in Salton City. The camping Friday is optional. We will travel over the trail, stopping along the way to view points of interest and taking some side roads as well. We will camp along the trail Saturday night and finish near Blythe on Sunday afternoon. We can head west on the I-10 for the return trip home. An option, based on group interest and time, would be to continue on to La Paz in Arizona, to the official end of the Bradshaw Trail. La Paz was the site of significant gold mining activity in the 1860's.
The bulk of the trail is graded dirt and sand. There are some soft sections and there are some side canyons that could be a little more challenging. Nothing difficult. High clearance 4x4 SUV will be sufficient. Gas is available near the trailhead at a reasonable price. Please bring extra. Gas prices in Blythe (at trail’s end) are inflated, however, if you cross into Arizona, the price is better than San Diego.
Please RSVP via PM or email. august (at) julian-ca (dot) com

Re: Bradshaw Trail 4/16 to 4/17, 2011
This is a fun run. I did it last year as my birthday run. I'm sorry I won't make it this year. I encourage anyone who hasn't run the Bradshaw trail to jump onboard with Tim's group.

I would love to but, like I said, I won't be on this trip this year. I have other plans. I do highly recommend it for anyone who hasn't run it before though.kcid51 wrote:Ollie,
