Old Dale Mining District-Joshua Tree/29 Palms

Post by CrookedRecords » Sat Jan 29, 2011 3:08 pm

I don't know if there is a quicker way to post photos but after attempting to insert them individually and comment on them I eventually gave up...

Here is a link to my photo album of some pics from the old dale mining district (I hope it is ok to link to it). A club I belong to has this area claimed up for mining but as it is public property anybody can camp, explore or 4wd there. This is as far as I was able to go in my 2wd truck but I hear that this road continues onto the Los Angeles mine and others that still have plenty of existing structures. This stuff is all just north of the park (Joshua Tree)

We discovered that area last year in February when we visited JT and decided to exit that way on the way home. We might go back specifically to that area North of the park, glad to learn it has a name! Thanks for posting. d

A group of us from OAUSA went exploring through the Old Dale mining district last year - it was a great trip, and we had fun exploring the old mining claims and lessor known historical sites along the way....It's an area I'd like to explore again.

This is another area I've looked into that I'm really looking forward to exploring. Now if I can only find the time...

Great pictures!

Just be careful if you're alergic to bees. There were quite a few of them one noting while we were out there.

Yeah, and several of us got stung....they were very aggressive bees that did not like it when we removed the water jug we had set up the afternoon before in camp. We smoked 'em, took the water jug, and proceeded up to the Brooklyn mine (I think that was the one we headed to) Well, since I was driving a virtual 4WD bumble bee (yellow FJC), the lil' buzzers followed us for several miles before going after us when we got out of the vehicles...

A painful reminder not to screw with Mother Nature

I was there two years ago. Looking at DSC04150.JPG there is lots of stuff now gone! At least one old truck and the boom from the crane.
