Holcomb Creek & John Bull July 9 or10
Holcomb Creek & John Bull July 9 or10
Putting out the feelers to see if any one is interested in doing a a run up in Big Bear next weekend. I would like to do Gold Mountain / John Bull and Holcomb Creek. Saturday or Sunday, meet at the Grizzly or South Shore Cafe for breakfast and wheel all day with a break for lunch somewhere. This will be a long day of hard wheeling with plenty of opportunity to continue on or drop out when you have had your fill.

Re: Holcomb Creek & John Bull July 9 or10
Tare and I want to get a whole weekend, camping trip going up there. Run all the good trails. Probably Friday, Saturday, and leave Sunday. But were going to wait till the end of July, or early august. I know that's not what you asked in your post, but I thought I'd throw it out there, just in case you were open to the idea. It's going to be crazy busy on HC for the next few weekends I'm sure. The word is out, and there will be a lot of people running that trail.

Well I don't have that many free weekends so I have to take advantage. I would guess the majority of the guys on Holcomb have done it before....hopefully. The biggest problem seems to be running into big groups going the opposite way. I have always gone East to West, do you know if that is the standard or the exception?

Tell that to a group of 20 Jeepers when you come across them going the opposite way.

Re: Holcomb Creek & John Bull July 9 or10
If you are just running Holcomb Creek then East to West is probably more popular. A lot of people like to start in Lake Arrowhead and run Dishpan, Holcomb Creek and John Bull all in one day. That is West to East.gon2srf wrote:FishPOET wrote:There is not any preferred direction on 3N93 Holcomb Creekgon2srf wrote: I have always gone East to West, do you know if that is the standard or the exception?

I might come out to do some wheeling. Where will you be staying at? I was thinking I would find a nice yellow post site if I did make it out.

There are no plans to stay over night at the moment, this is a long one day run.. I doubt any yellow posts will be available unless you show up on Thursday night or know of a secret one. I saw your rig on Ex Portal, looking good.
My cell phone is 949 235-1494 if you want to call. I have this posted on the So Cal 80's Mud board, should have a couple of Toy 80's locked solid axles with 37's and my FJC. We'll keep it at 5 rigs max.
