Big Bear Airshow Aug 6, 2011

Post by ssc » Fri Jul 15, 2011 8:45 pm

The Big bear Airshow is Aug 6, and I am thinking of heading up for a day of pictures and trails. I will need to do a bit of research, but do recall being above the planes as they fly by up on Gold Mountain. I may just spend Fri night in BB. If anyone is interested, check it out: http://www.bigbearcityairport.com/airfair/#rides

Just posting to give a heads up and if anyone wants to run a trail, post up. I anticipate taking quite a few pictures.

Regards, Steve

I would be up for doing Gold Mountian and watching the show. I know a perfect little turnout off of the trail that looks right down on the runway. There is room for 4-5 rigs.

Sounds good. Scott, are you familiar with this show? Are you thinking of hitting the field in the morning for up close looks at the planes and then going up Gold Mtn as they fly? This is my thought, but I do not know the flying schedule--except they leave out around 4pm.

Cheers, Steve

Newps (Tare) and I are going to be there. We're going to be staying in a friends cabin near Baldwin Lake.

Our timeline for the weekend...

Friday Night arrive at the cabin.

Saturday morning 9:00 run Holcomb Creek.
(anyone that wants to join us is welcome, we can arrange a meet time and place)

Saturday Afternoon 1:00 go to the airport, check out the planes, then join you guys for the run up Gold Mtn.
(Where can we meet up with you all?)

Saturday night Steak Dinner at Cowboy Steak House.
(anyone that wants to join us is welcome)

Sunday is up for grabs. We might run a trail, or we might pack up and go home, not sure yet.
(If any of you are going to be staying up there Saturday night, do you want to get a run going for Sunday?)

I called up to the BB airport to get some info. I was informed that many of the planes come in Friday. On Sat, it is up to the pilot as to when they take off and make their rounds. Usually they will do this twice before departing at 4. I am still in the process of deciding if I will go up Fri or Sat morning. As we get closer to the date, we can set up some meeting times and places. Don't think I will run Holcomb, but look forward to getting to Scott's spot to get some nice in flight pics. Is Braden buying dinner? :D

Aloha, Steve
