Miramar Airshow

Post by ssc » Sat Oct 01, 2011 10:36 pm

Got a heads-up from Braden about the Miramar airshow today. Though we did not see each other at the show, we stayed in touch via text. I am looking forward to his pictures. The Blue Angeles put on a great show. It was a long, but fun day. Here are a few pictures.

Cheers, Steve

Great shots. My wife and I were there for both the day and night shows. It was as good as I remember it being, and her first air show

I am sorry we didn't all see each other. My eyes were blurry last night from all the pictures. Here are a few more pictures, with one that has the moon in it. I didn't even notice this till this morning. I have a few more on my photo website. If interested take a look under aircraft.

Cheers, Steve

Here are my images from the show. I blew it on some of my shots. During the pre-Blue Angel show there was a mix of rotor / propeller aircraft and jet aircraft flying. I had my shutter speed set low to get the motion of the props and rotors and a lot of them came out a little soft. Also I was using my 70-200mm for those shots, so I missed a lot of the afterburner close-ups that I could have gotten if I had been using my 400mm.

That show is hard to shoot, because most of the time your shooting into the sun, or a least in the general direction of the sun. So I tried to adjust my exposure to compensate. What I got are shots of the aircraft exposed well, but at the loss of that nice blue sky background that you see in Steve's shots.

Most of my Blue Angel shots are the same as Steve's, so I won't post duplicates.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy them.
