Beautiful. The Newport pier is one of my favorite places to take sunset pictures. I am thinking of heading down there tomarrow.

The pier is always full of people fishing. You can see several poles and lines in the picture.

I have no idea what they catch, but I wouldn't eat anything caught from that pier.

If you like the star type effect, step down your aperture. I like the effect and I try for f11 to f16. Depending on your light and the slow ap, it is usually tripod time.

I had no idea what caused that either, so after you asked I google'd it, small aperture = star effect.

And ya, I was using a tripod.
