Larry,
Once you do the single file installation and are connected to the Internet, enter your call sign. This will be in a popup configuration window. There will also be a place to type in your APRS Internet service password (from uiview, agwtracker etc.) although it is not needed for monitoring or RF based use.
It would be used to enable two way communication via the Internet.
Once you have completed at least your call sign entry and closed the box. You will be presented with the map view screen. If you are connected to the internet you can zoom in and maps will begin to download.
Zoom in to your area of interest with a fairly tight view. Then click transmit this will set your location and aprsis filters to begin the data stream for aprsis data to populate your screen with data.
You can then create ports for either agwpe, TNC, or Kenwood, Yaesu, data protocols for radio frequency usage.
