Culp Valley Campground & Borrego Badlands Prerun - Sept. 14th & 15th 2012

I'm planning a trip out to the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park on the third Saturday of September to pre-run a possible route for the 2012 BorregoFest event. I'll be heading out on the 14th, Friday evening to the Culp Valley Campground to stay the night then make my way down to meet up at the Pegleg Smith Historical Marker: 33.295436,-116.297971

Feel free to come on out!

Points of interest will included Fonts Point and Inspiration Overlook, historic Truckhaven Trail, the Pumpkin Patch, Seventeen Palms, and Calcite Mine. After Calcite Mine, instead of just hopping right back onto the pavement, I'm thinking of just cutting across the desert to Highway 78. From S22 head south on the Cross Over Trail, east on Arroyo Salado Wash, south on Pole Line Road, west on the Gas Domes Trail, and then south along Tarantula Wash to Highway 78.

Sounds good! See you out there.

That was on the way up to Calcite Mine. dlichterman slid sideways a bit and tagged the side of his truck. That trail is rougher than I remember.

That's pretty much it. It was the section with a huge hole, and my wheels must have slipped. My tires are old and need to be replaced.....will be before next month. My truck is a big longer that everyone elses stuff so it just barely tagged.

I will have to watch out for that spot next month

Thank You John.....for the personal invite!

I'm sorry that I could not make it.

Fun pics!

The trail to the Calcite Mine now looks Terrible......

I won't be taking the SWR up there anytime soon!

Carry On!....
