MINE UPDATE
There are some good developments, a reminder, and a request that I need to mention;
1. Today I received permission to visit the the richest gold mine in the Julian-Banner district. The mine was discovered in 1871 when a hopeful prospector stopped for lunch and noticed a glint of gold in a rock outcropping near where he sat. The mine had the most complex workings of all the Cuyamaca mines and employed more than 50 miners at it's peak. The history of the mine continues to the present, with one of the biggest efforts to resurrect it occurring in the 1980s.
2. We are at full for this trip, but we still can take 2-3 for the waiting list.
3. As I mentioned in the first post, everyone will receive a copy (no charge) of Leland Fetzer's book "A Good Camp, Gold Mines of Julian and the Cuyamacas". Leland offers an intriguing history of most of the mines we will visit. For those who would like an early copy, post up here. I should get the books about a week before the trip and I will mail a copy to those interested.
4. We will have a full day of exploring and will need to get an early start. Please arrive at the meeting place at the designated time. Also, please see me as early as possible (preferably on Friday) to get a vehicle inspection and complete the paperwork.

Sounds like a great opportunity Dave. If it is not too much trouble, I would like an "advanced" copy of the book

Wow DaveK, looks like you're doing some fun runs. This mine trip really spikes my interest. It would be my first time.
Please put me on the list if something opens up.
Thank you!
