BorregoFest supplies / fuel
What is the best option for fuel in the area, with a couple of trail runs I am sure I will want to top of the tank. Are there any markets?
Looking on Google maps I don't see any gas stations in the vicinity.
EDIT: just noticed that the campsite has a general store

Nearest town is Julian where there are markets, gas stations, and restaurants. From camp, I'm guessing that it's about a 30 minute drive (maybe a little less - maybe not)

Thanks Dave. I am not really concerned with the market, just want to make sure I have enough fuel for the weekend

Ocotillo is no longer an option. Last time we were there the pumps weren't open. They said they were done selling fuel there.sdnative wrote:Depending on where you are coming from, there are several places to get fuel. Unfortunately none are close to the campground.

Re: BorregoFest supplies / fuel
I have 2 cans that are only a few months old, but one has already spring a leak and the paint on the inside is coming off like crazy. worst case scenario I could fill the one can, then filter it before it goes in the truck, but I am not too fond of that idea. I will just plan to run into town and top off if needed.dlichterman wrote:Did someone say extra gas
just for note, these are the cans I have http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/u ... x?a=984598 Stay away from them. I had them a bout a month when the one sprung a leak and the paint started coming off the inside.

Re: BorregoFest supplies / fuel
Those cans are very poor reproductions of the real NATO fuel cans. One easy way to tell the difference is the welded seam - the originals have a sunken seam, so that you can't make contact by accident and damage the seam itself. The exposed seam on the imitation is a serious issue if it makes contact - it's easy to see how a leak can start...

Ahh Borrego Springs is not that far...just top off after or before a run. My Jeep gets 15 to 16 mpg. I can run from my house in National City to AB and the trail and make it home on one tank. I always carry 2 5gal cans anyway. Never can tell what happends.

Anyone want some black market Arizona fuel? Only $4.25 a gallon...
