Re: 2012 BorregoFest General Discussion Report
Thanks to everyone that put this Great event on. I had a wonderful time.

Borrego Fest 2012 Main Camp

Folks sharing stories late into the night!

Playing with night vision goggles.

Adventure Trailers circled up.

Brothers posing for a photograph.

And the last one, although the shot is not all that great. This was the first annual SPA meeting. That stands for Snow Peak Anonymous. If you missed the meeting please seek us out next year.

Great photos, Justin!
We had a great time! It was a blast leading a group through the Borrego Badlands and checking out all the interesting features along the way. The pool was cold but refreshing after a warm and dusty day out on the trails.
Dave had a great selection of wine to sample and there was more than enough good food to enjoy at the potluck. A big thanks to all those who contributed. Our daughter also had fun running around with the other kids. Looking forward to next year's event and of course all the other gatherings and trail runs in between!

Here are some of the better shots:

Rope Swing:

Parking at the second mine:

Willys 4wd truck:

Ranchito Mine:

Group shot of the mine run:

Mud Caves:
Because we decided to stay another day, this allowed us to do another trail run Sunday afternoon after the HAM testing. We decided to visit the Arroyo Tapiado mud caves. It was a nice drive out to the caves where we enjoyed lunch.
Entering the cave:

Group shot:

After wandering through the cave and heading back for lunch, we decided to continue along the wash towards diablo dropoff. Before the dropoff we turned up Arroyo Seco Del Diablo for a ways until it was time to start heading back. However, only a few minutes after turning around we encountered a mechanical failure. The inner-tube on the rear wheel of Andy's DRZ400 blew, stopping him dead in his tracks. We did not have an exact match for the tube, and we did not have too much time left. I cleared out the back of my truck and put down the cardboard I had luckily left in the truck, and the 4 of us lifted the DRZ into the back of my Tundra and rachet strapped it into the bed. Andy joined Liz and I in the cab and we headed back towards pavement. In all of the rushing I forgot to put my gas cap back on(it was sitting on my roof) - surprised that I didn't throw a code. Since we were running against the clock I didn't grab a picture on the trail but I did when we got back to camp:

WOW. Some great pics!
John (Borrego Wrangler), I like the pic of your daughter and Moose next to my truck. I can just imagine your daughter saying this in the pic:
"Yeah, I off-road. What about it?"
