Newbie from South Bay

Post by cbetts » Tue Jan 15, 2013 10:27 am

Greeting everyone! I am a newb from Torrance coming in to join y'all for some off road fun.

I own a 2006 Hummer H3 that I bought brand new and have slowly built-up to be a decent trail rig.

I was born raised in Bishop, CA so I am no stranger to wheeling in the California mountains. I am currently the Southern Califronia Chapter President for Hummer 4x4 Off Road, an international Hummer club. I like to take groups out for day drives all around SoCal. Sometimes we encounter some rather harsh trails for Hummers, like John Bull. My favorite trails include Last Chance Canyon around the Red Rock Canyon area and Wheeler Ridge just north of Bishop.

I have had a few "pucker" moments as well . . .

I am planning on stopping by the meet-n-greet at Ruby's and look forward to meeting y'all.

cbetts, welcome aboard OAUSA !!!

Looks like your H3 has had some time out on the trail, and some time in the air, too

Please post up any upcoming runs you are planning, as well as any write-ups of previous adventures to share with th e folks here at OAUSA...and if you are a ham radio operator, please join us Thurs nights @ 7:30pm on the Keller repeater (146.385+, PL 146.2) for the weekly Outdoor Adventure USA net. If you aren't licensed, grab yourself a Technician License study guide (lots of info in the Amateur Radio sections here), and sign up to take the test at the Meet & Greet on March 16...

I look forward to seeing you there :D

Craig:

Welcome aboard!

It's always great to have a fellow Hummer driver join up. We have a couple of events/runs scheduled and hopefully you can join us. See you at the Redondo Beach Meet & Greet.

Thank you kind sir. I am not much of a radio hobbiest. CB is about my speed. I am interested in what other people have done with their trucks though. I have been having fun perusing through the trip reports of others over here and found some trails I want to try.

It has been a long time since I played around on a forum that uses phpBB. Got a few things to relearn.

Craig,

Small world! I've been part of this group since '07. I finally got a Pinzgauer in '06. You probably remember me talking about getting one when we worked together.

Let me know the next time you're up this way wheeling. It would be fun to get together. I also belong to the Ridgecrest Gear Grinders and I've run most of the trails you mentioned around Bishop with them.

Welcome to the site and nice photos! I see you're from Bishop. One of these day I need to get out there and camp at Coyote Flats.
