Hi all - from Portland, OR

Post by Stryder » Sat May 11, 2013 10:00 pm

I heard Tom Severin's interview on the 4x4 podcast about Ham radio, and being both a Ham and also very interested in "overlanding," I came here. I'm in the process now of listening to all the archived Nets and I hope to be able to get onto one live in the near future.

No cool 4x4 vehicle yet, just a very reliable Subaru, but I see a Taco in my future. :)

Stryder

Welcome to OAUSA.

We're glad that you are enjoying the nets. Most of them from the last 5 years are up on the website. You can either listen or participate in the nets no matter where you are.

Your trusty Subaru could make it to Summer Fest / Field Day in June and you could participate in a full blown Field Day operation, Think about it!!

Welcome to the site!

There's still a bunch of exploring to be had even without a 4X4. Although once you get one, it'll open up a whole new world!

Thanks for the warm welcome all. I've been listening to the archived nets this week and I definitely want to participate. My wife is actually from Redlands so I'm familiar when you talk about places like Big Bear, etc. We lived in Oakland for many years and got our outdoor start backpacking in the Sierras, overlanding is just the next logical step.

Call sign is KF7RXN, I'll also post in the comms forum if there is a thread for it. Thanks again.
