OAUSA Net May 30 2013 – Build a First Aid Kit

Post by toms » Thu May 30, 2013 4:34 pm

Tonight’s net is on the topic of building your own first Aid Kit. I would like to start where we left off last time on the discussion of how many first aid kits do you recommend, their location and use. We never settled the debate: Should every kit be identical or should they be tailored to the use and situation.

Product Spot Light – Corn Huskers Lotion
This product falls in line with our first aid discussion.
Invented in Iowa more than 60 years ago, Corn Huskers lotion is made today by Johnson & Johnson. Originally developed as an oil-free moisturizer for those whose hands were taking abuse from friction and the elements while harvesting crops, the lotion is now used by a wide range of consumers.

On the market for over sixty years, Corn Huskers Lotion provides fast penetrating action. Moisturizes and softens dry skin. Also soothes discomfort of irritated, chapped or cracked skin. Oil free, non-greasy.
Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, SD Alcohol 40, Sodium Calcium Alginate, Oleyl Sarcosin, Methylparaben, Guar Gum, Triethanolamine, Calcium Sulfate, Fragrance, Calcium Chloride, Fumaric Acid, boric acid

o A tried and true friend on many an outing has been a small "economy tube" of petroleum jelly.

Good for general moisturizing, lip balm, fire starter (soaked cotton balls) and for a "less stick" dressing salve when you find your other medical ointments are missing.

Great way to carry your kit for limited use space.

I DO NOT recommend their filled kit... it's not useless by any means, and im not a professional.. but it seemed lacking.

However, the Rotopax housing works great. We have one tucked under our back seat and it makes it easy to grab and go.
