New member in southern Orange County
Hi everyone,
I usually hang out on a forum that deals mostly with the brand of offroad vehicle I have. There, I came across a couple of posts by DaveK, so I figured I'd come over here and check things out.
MY off-road vehicle is a 1997 H1 Hummer that I bought about 2.5 years ago. Prior to that, I drove a 2008 H3 Alpha with the "adventure" package. I try to make it to Moab, UT once or twice a year along with the Hummer club I belong to. Other than that, I have wheeled all over SoCal for the past 5 -ish years, but it's been a while since I was out to any of the areas east of San Diego.
I am a pretty active HAM. In my truck I have a Yaesu FT-8800 and an Icom IC-7000 and a "trucker" CB radio. Due to the annoying (and useless) HOA where I live, I can't have an HF antenna at home so most of my HF work is mobile. I use a Little Tarheel II screwdriver antenna, mounted in the roof rack on the truck. I have been active in various HAM related volunteer organizations and am currently part of the OC parks Firewatch program.
I live in Laguna Niguel with my girlfriend, my dog and 2 cats.
I'd be very interested in joining the net you guys have, I just need to find out which repeater it's on, and when? (Thursdays I think?)
73 everyone

Welcome to OAUSA. Good to see you here.
Speaking of events in your area, we are doing two which are close to you. The first is a Meet and Greet on Fiesta Island in San Diego on August 17, 2013, and the second is our annual Borrego Fest event (near Anza Borrego Desert State Park) on October 18-20, 2013. Information about the M&G will be posted today.
You can join the nets by one of several means:
1. directly to the Keller Peak Repeater 146.385, -, 146.2
2. Echolonk, through Keller, use KE6TZG-R
3. Western Reflector at node 9251
4. Echolink through the Western Reflector (same node)
5. Palomar Mountain Repeater (in San Diego) at 449.300, -, 100.0
The net is every Thursday evening at 7:30.
Hope to see you on the trail or at one of our events.
