The maximum of the Leonid activity in 2013 is expected during the night of the 17th November 2013. The Leonids are a prolific meteor shower. It tends to peak around November 17, but some are spread through several days on either side and the specific peak changing every year.

Since those nights are a full moon most of the showers won't be all that visible. Here in my part of Southern California the moon set on November 16th will be 1:26 AM, so after that there should be good viewing. I think a trip out to the desert might be in order...

After my wife's photo shoot on the 16th ,we are planning on heading out to Anza-Borrego, setting up camp in Vallecito Wash and staying up late to catch the meteor shower after the moon set.
