OAUSA Net 11/14/13 - What's in Your Box?
This week we will talk about camp cooking boxes! Everyone's cook box will be slightly different driven by culinary preferences... but I am sure there are many commonalities and plenty for all of us to learn from each other.

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT
This week the product spotlight is on a .........spotlight. At night, when we are in the boonies, the task of operating the radios (or the computers, GPS, etc) is a lot easier when there is a good light handy. Hella makes a marine grade LED light that is perfect match for our needs. From their website (http://www.hellamarine.com/en/products/ ... -lamp.html):
This is the light, installed.

I did a write-up of my installation, which can viewed here - viewtopic.php?f=120&t=1100. In addition to a very bright light in a compact package, it comes with a 5 year warranty and is suited for applications with electrical systems ranging from 9-31 volts. See Amazon for further details, http://www.amazon.com/HELLA-343720122-M ... B002MOCDHK.Hella marine LED lamps offer durable energy efficient lighting for a variety of interior applications.
With a current draw of less than 2W (less than 0.16A @ 12V), these flexible LED lamps have an impressive white or red light output and are highly energy efficient.
Available in single red or white LED light or dual colour red and white LED versions with integrated dimming via a rotary switch built into the head.
This is the light, installed.

Another all-in-one grill/stove similar to the Kovea is the South Africian CADAC Safari Chef -
http://www.cadacamerica.com/
It looks a little bigger than the Kovea but his has a lid which can double has a wok or pot and a couple different grilling/frying surfaces.
I like to use this when i'm cooking for myself and don't need multiple burners or a big grilling surface.
Here is a source for knife safes - http://www.amazon.com/LamsonSharp-Knife ... B000RURC54
If you shop around some on the Internet you should be able to find them for less.

I love the use of a pelican case and how compact you managed to fit everything in. I'll think about investing in one, or two
I use three boxes, in one I keep all the items that touch the food, such as pots, pans, knifes, cutting board, dishes, utensils, spatula... I have a second box for the things that never touch the food, such as propane, water purification tablets, soap, sponges, etc... I also keep bathing wipes on this box. This helps me to know where everything is and adds a layer of protection to not get poisonous products on the food. Then obviously have another box with the food, spices, etc.
