Event Report for Redondo Beach Meet & Greet
The Meet & Greet turned out very well. You can post all reports and pictures here. Thanks to everyone who joined us and:
'
1. Tim A. for his, as always, great triple chocolate cake. Those that left early, missed this wonderful treat. Many thanks Tim!!
2. All of our VEs for administering the Amateur Radio testing. Thanks Larry and Don!! We had some very interesting results (to be reported soon).
3. Bruce B for his demo of his solar oven. Having warm nachos for the VEs (during testing), was a real treat. Bruce later made corn bread that was as tasty as it gets. Thanks Bruce. Bruce also brought his flip top camper and I regret that I was not able to get any pictures. If any one has a shot or two, please post. As comfortable as you are making your Toyota Bruce, I sense that the Pinz, might not see many miles in the future.
4. All those who did Ham Radio demos. Thanks Larry and Don!
5. Ruby's and the Marina Management Company, for allowing us to use the parking lot for the event. Thanks to Ruby's for great food. BTW, I highly recommend the bacon cheese burger!!
6. The Hummer 4X4 Offroad group for making this joint event a success!!. Thanks Craig and we are looking forward to next year!!!

Re: Event Report for Redondo Beach Meet & Greet
Thank you to everyone who joined us at the OAUSA Meet & Greet in Redondo Beach!
We have a great time again in the South Bay
Thanks also to all who helped "work" the event, including Dave, Don, Tim, and Bruce.
We had an amazing turn out for the amateur radio testing session - one of the largest for OAUSA so far. It was awesome to see the interest in ham radio among off road and outdoor enthusiasts continue to grow - and we're proud that OAUSA has had a hand in helping maintain and maybe even increase that momentum. Congratulations to all new hams who passed their Technician tests, and to those who have expanded their radio horizons into the world of HF with General and Extra license upgrades.
Also thanks to the members of the Hummer Club and American Adventurists for joining us, and bringing their rigs to display.
I think we made quite an impression on the passers-by, and we definitely generated a lot of interesting conversation and questions from those who were not familiar with our group - just a couple of the reasons these M&Gs are fun for me...

Thanks Dave, the VE's and all the organizers. It was a ton of fun and I'll now have to get an HF radio to enjoy my new extra class privileges... Will probably post questions soon on regards to the Icom 7000, Yaesu 857D or 897D...

I would like to thank the group for welcoming Hummer 4x4 Off Road (H4O). We didn't have a huge turnout on our side but I think together we managed to attract a LOT of passer-byers. I took mostly group shots but got most of the major players in the frame.

Those that stayed to the bitter end were rewarded with a tasty treat!

Of course, I had to take good care of my wife afterwards with a treat for her.

Re: Event Report for Redondo Beach Meet & Greet
The Amateur Radio License testing received one of our highest turnouts yet. We ended up offering 12 tests with the following results:
1. 4 new Technician licenses
2. 4 new General licenses
3. 1 new Extra license
We had 2 individuals who earned 2 new licenses in one test session. Big congrats to Steve and David.

I was glad I was able to stop by, say hi to some I already knew, and put faces with the screen names of some I hadn't met before! Fun times..........

Re: Event Report for Redondo Beach Meet & Greet
Congratulations to all who successfully passed their Amateur Radio exams. The new or upgraded licenses have been issued and can be seen on the FCC website. If you haven't received your new ID card, it will arrive soon. You can check out your status here: http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSear ... icense.jsp .
Now, it's time to join us on the nets.
