I check in on the net as Wallace. Dub is my nickname. Short for W.
My Wife and I are really enjoying the Thursday evening nets.
I've been using CB radio going on 50 years and finally decided to get my license. So I picked up an inexpensive HT, built a 1/4 wave ground plane antenna and mounted it about 25 feet up on my Rohn tower that my windmill sits on top of. So, I'm hitting the Keller Peak repeater, about 60 miles or more from me with my 5 watt HT. This hobby really suits me as I work for a company that manufactures RF products.
We are avid wilderness campers and off roaders. I'm a member of SoCalXJ and have a couple of nice Cherokees. We go to the Sierras in the fall when the crowds are gone and love the desert for secluded camping.
I look forward to keeping in touch with everybody on Thursday nights and the opportunity to meet some of you camping out in the wilderness.

Welcome to OAUSA!!
It's always great to get feedback about the nets. If you have any topics that you would like to have discussed, please let us know.
We have our Borrego Fest event coming up in October and while it is not exactly "wilderness camping", it would be a good opportunity to meet our group, participate in one of the trail runs, and enjoy some fabulous cooking at the pot luck on Saturday night. I will be posting information in the next couple of weeks. Hope you can join us.
If you enjoy wilderness camping, check out the Expedition Run Report section here in the forums (viewforum.php?f=118). I organize this kind of trip every year and all are welcome.

Hey, Dub, welcome to the group !
I look forward to checking out your XJs - and I like your ingenuity with your antenna.
Being located down in Vista, BorregoFest is a short hop for you - so we all hope you and your wife can join us for a "face to face"

Thanks for that Cruiser. I've already scheduled the time off so that I can at the very least make it out to meet everybody. Any idea yet which Campground the fest is going to be at?cruiserlarry wrote:Hey, Dub, welcome to the group !
