Is there a decent hotel (under $100) on the north side of the lake closer to Big Pine Flats?

All of the hotels I have seen seem to be on the south side (by the ski slopes I presume). I am trying to get a room for Friday night.

I'll set up a tent, air mattress and include a Baja Burrito and a latte for breakfast. $50.00 :D

There aren't many choices on the North Shore.

Hi Eric,
If I make it up on Fri, I will stay at the northwoods hotel. It is on the southside.I have friends with cabins, one of which is on the northside. However, I know what will happen if I stay there--too much Jack and not enough sleep.

I saw that you were staying there, but it's a little too rich for my blood. :o

I was trying to find a motel 6 or something. ;) I saw a couple of decent looking hotels for under $100. I'll probably get one of those.

BTW: What trails are you going to run? I'd like to run a trail or two with you again.

Eric,
If you come up on Fri, let me know and we can run trails Fri as well as Sat. What everyone has to remember is that TTORA is having an event this same weekend and the FJ cruiser forum is trying to set up a run for the same time. It could get very crowded. The trails I am familiar with and would like to run are gold mtn-3n69. I generally enter off the 18 go west to 3n16. It is a moderate trail. If you turn right on 3n16 and go a short ways you will go to Jacoby canyon trail, 3n61. It is a shorter trail, but pretty and it is an easy trail. You end up on the 18. I enjoy going to burnt flat, a nice run with incredible views and a few moderate spots--3n02. Then when coming back up you go west on 3n10 which is John Bull, or the intro to Bull. It is moderate. You then come to the intersection of 3n32 and 3n10. Go south on 3n32 takes you back to 3n16-the major easy east-west road. Keep on 3n10 and this is the John Bull run, It is difficult. I am also familiar with trails on the south side, which are on the easy side. We can try trails further west, except some are closed due to the fire. I don't know if Holcomb creek is open.

I know the area pretty well so I am happy to hit any trail that sparks your fancy. I was up there two weeks ago and I will be there next week as well. If I had to guess which trail will get backed up, it would be John Bull. You have my number, feel free to call me.

Regards, Steve
