Thought I would add a few photos to fill in some of the gaps. My first entry, the trip to Panamint City but I am getting "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached." I guess I won't be adding photos. Second try, lets see how this goes.

Ballarat General Store (don't count on it). Definitely a stopping place of interest but also a necessity for those who may run into trouble or just want to hangout and talk to a few people who know about the area. There used to be a year round resident but that might have changed since my trip. They just happened to have a "get together" at the time of this photo...you will NOT see this many vehicles on a normal weekend if any at all.
Ballarat General Store (don't count on it). Signs of years gone by: Rock drills still in the granite, I presume, used as points to anchor winches as they pulled vehicles over obstacles like this. Beware the green rock; slippery as snot!

It may be a little hard to see at first, look for the eye of the rattler. Probably a Panamint Speckled Rattlesnake but not a good enough view of the body in this photo.

The eeriest sound at 0100 in the morning: When a wild burro brays in a tight canyon like this. Their wild oat songs about mining days gone by echos through the canyon and is, at best, a little unnerving. The white burro was a surprise to behold.

Taken from the &quot;Great House&quot; of the town. There are several cabins but all are inhabited by some sort of pack rat/rodent and care should be taken based on the hazards that come with rodent poop and urine.
