Icom is about to introduce a new dual band VHF/UHF transceiver, the model 2730A. It has some nice features including
50 watts on both bands Blue Tooth capable large and easy to read screen detachable head Cross band repeater capability CS-2730 Free download PC programming software Weather channel receive with weather alert (USA version only) CI-V remote control capability (through the OPC-478UC) Mil Spec Compliant (810)
No official price yet, but the speculation seems to be that it will be competitive with existing similar dual band radios. This is a very interesting new analog radio from Icom, especially as they seem to be very focused on their D-Star digital radios. For more information: http://www.icomamerica.com/en/products/ ... fault.aspx .

We did a net a few weeks back on fire extinguishers and we highlighted a product that may not have all the glitz and glamor of a new radio or a set of new knobbly mud tires, but it can be a vital piece of equipment that off-roaders will appreciate, when the time is right. The product is a heavy duty fire extinguisher mount that is meant for the rough roads that we see all too often.

Its made by the H3R Company and sold by Four Wheel Parts for about $60.00. The product number is NB-300 and it is meant for 3 inch diameter FEs. Here is what H3R says:
Speed is critical when deploying a fire extinguisher. Count on our new Extreme Duty quick release fire extinguisher brackets to allow fast action while withstanding rigorous use. Ideal for aviation, terrestrial and marine applications.

Tough, Functional & Lightweight

Fire extinguisher quickly releases from bracket
Fiberglass reinforced nylon construction and corrosion resistant hardware
Designed to meet MIL SPEC 810G (test in progress)
Tested to withstand inertial loads in excess of 27G in all directions
Fire extinguisher cannot be accidently disengaged from bracket
Fits H3R Aviation fire extinguishers with 3" diameter cylinders (C352TS/C, C354TS & B385TS/C)
"Pull to Release" flag enhances visibility
Does not obscure fire extinguisher nameplate
Weighs a scant 14 oz!

2nd Amendment Foundation: http://www.saf.org/

Calguns: http://www.saf.org/

Several e-commerce sites will let you make a donation during each purchase and these are two great organizations to donate to. We are at a pivotal point in our recent history concerning firearms ownership and helping to provide funds to these two organizations, the NRA, or the CRPA.

Also the Slim Jim website if you missed it: http://www.2wayelectronix.com/Portable-Antennas_c3.htm and http://www.n9tax.com/Slim%20Jim%20Info.html
