OAUSA Net - 6/18/15 - 4WD & Camping Issues and Solutions

Post by DaveK » Wed Jun 17, 2015 5:25 pm

The net this week will concentrate on some of the most common and often frustrating problems and issues we face on the trail and when camping in wilderness settings. Tom, KI6FHA, will lead the discussion and we invite your thoughts on solutions you have discovered.

Dave,
I will attempt to check in, but please give me a courtesy if I am inaudible.

KK6CTT internet courtesy check-in please.

A frustration that we probably share in common is pinning down government agencies concerning access. One minute there is no issue the next minute there are locked gates. One season they have an area open, the next they do not. You call and ask when they might open the area and they don't know. When you decide to walk the area having left your vehicle way back at some remote parking area you run into some other government vehicle not even a 4wd vehicle, traversing areas that were supposed to be closed due to "poor road conditions" and not one strip of road you have travelled by foot is anything you would not bring a stock sedan through. I doubt there is an answer to this other than work with groups that help to keep our natural resources open.

Thanks,
