Not mentioned is food. My daily driver has several days of water and food.

If you don't want to build your own kit you can order one from the Red Cross or Big Boxes stores.

Here is a link to the Red Cross kit:

I also have a reflective vest (in case I'm out of vehicle at night) and a hard hat (construction type).

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT - GOAL ZERO SOLAR CHARGERS

The spotlight this week is on a product that will keep your battery operated accessories running, especially when the power is out or just not available. While it is a very good idea to always have extra batteries on hand in the vehicle, there is a great deal to be said for rechargeable batteries. Recharging them is a snap as long as you have the equipment to do so, and this means that you will need to have two things in the vehicle: a charger and a power source. Both items are easy to carry and take up very little space.

The smart traveler works to keep his battery types to the smallest group possible. Most flashlights, cameras, GPS units, HT radios, antenna analyzers, etc., use either AA or AAA batteries. In increasing numbers however, there are many products that can be recharged from a regular USB port, including phones, tablets, some radios, cameras, etc.

In order to keep things working, rechargeable batteries need a power source to bring them up to full, once discharged. This is where GOAL ZERO products come in, (http://www.goalzero.com/.) On a recent trip I carried a goal zero solar panel and was able to recharge AA and AAA batteries, charge my cell phone (with a 12v cigarette lighter plug), and charge a camera through a USB port, all with the Goal Zero Solar kit. Here it is:
