Ok, so I have a law enforcement buddy that gets stuck in a van all day on surveillance. Believe me, they take their drinks seriously, and I would too if I had to be stuck in a hot or cold van with just what I have. He gave me this YETI 32 oz. RAMBLER
It was big and kinda bulky, but I thought I would give it a try.

Then the MAGIC happened. I came home one afternoon from work and left my drink in the truck. When I got in the truck the next afternoon my drink looked like I had just poured it. All the ice was INTACT, and let me tell you that's where the magic is.

Sure its built like a brick-000-house, and its kinda bulky, but man do these things keep the hot, hot, and the cold, cold.
Saying these things are overbuilt is an understatement, and it will be the last work-mug you will ever buy.

I don't know if you have noticed, but everyone is selling "knockoffs" I bought two from Monoprice for $10 they look the same. But I tell you I found this guy online who is selling THE ORIGINAL YETI 32 oz. RAMBLER for $20 with free shipping. So I bought two.

I guess all the "naughty" people on my shopping list will get the knock-offs and the "nice" people will get the original!

KK6CTT for online check in please, 15 DEC.

A quick short list of stuff:

Knives make a great gift and the following seem to be high on my list:
o Mora: https://morakniv.se/en/
o Swiss Army: https://www.victorinox.com/us/en/Produc ... wAodZFEGFQ
-This includes their line of kitchen cutlery as well. The Santuko turned out to be a nice blade: https://www.victorinox.com/us/en/Produc ... 6.8523.17B
o and just about any quality blade will do without looking abroad for (cheap) import blades (Anza, Buck, Case, Older Timer and some Gerber and Kershaw for example). Go to the Anza shop right here in SOCAL: http://www.anzaknives.com/

A quality razor like the Merkur, Solingen Germany made, hunk of stainless steel, safety razor has become my favorite gift from my wife and she wanted me to be sure and mention it because she has gottem more raves over this gift than any other. I get the blades at the dollar or .99 store and use them for a week, flip the blade and go another week. I replace the blade about once/month; I shave almost everyday. This is a nice razor and a prized possession.
o Satin finish stainless steel: http://www.westcoastshaving.com/Merkur- ... _p_51.html
o Polished stainless steel: http://www.westcoastshaving.com/Merkur- ... _p_68.html

Goal Zero light products like the Torch 250 which I think is a great light because it has its own charging panel already integrated into the light. http://www.goalzero.com/p/239/torch-250 ... wAodMKQDmQ

You can't go wrong with a USGI canteen cup for those large cups of coffee or hot cocoa (these aren't as easy to come by like they used to be)

I have become a big fan of the these two antennas by Ed Fong: http://edsantennas.weebly.com/
o DBJ-3 which is a 2m/70cm J-pole with a 1.25m resonant section housed in a 4.5' PVC pipe, triband antenna (not listed on the website but sold for around $65.00).
o Or, the dual band rollup J-pole for those dismounted hikes where a backup antenna to the rubber duck is just communication insurance. Where oz not pounds matter (listed at $28)
o If you get a big enough order for a club or EMCOMM group Ed will work with you on the price and shipping. Great guy to work with directly.

o Game cameras can be a nice tool for not only getting photos of wildlife but also as a layer of security where capturing issues in camp or the trail head might be important. Use the pictures for a time lapse effect as well.

Membership to NRA (https://joinnra.nra.org/join/join.aspx), CRPA (http://crpa.org/membership/), increase our numbers through mentoring and coaching...Bang for the outdoor buck. Gift some range time or professional instruction in a specific discipline (https://www.gunsite.com/). Or, gift some reactive targets like AR500 gongs or silhouettes; hogs, rams, turkeys & chickens (https://magnumtarget.com/products/?gcli ... aQodYcANaw).

Hunter Safety Course.
Range Membership.

A survival (http://www.codylundin.com/), wilderness 1st aid (https://www.wildmed.com/wilderness-medi ... first-aid/), off-roading (See KI6FHA), or orienting course (http://www.us.orienteering.org/new-o/re ... nt-courses).

For those who need a little help I suggest reading a little Frank Miniter (https://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywo ... irize5p7_b)
Books like:
o This Will Make a Man of You: One Man’s Search for Hemingway and Manhood in a Changing World
o The Ultimate Man's Survival Guide: Rediscovering the Lost Art of Manhood
o The Future of the Gun
o The Politically Incorrect Guide to Hunting (Politically Incorrect Guides (Paperback))
o Saving the Bill of Rights: Exposing the Left's Campaign to Destroy American Exceptionalism

Maybe more to follow as time permits

Olight SR Mini Intimidator II
I find these flashlights to be extremely practical in the field for most purposes. While not a floodlight, the big, bright beam is fairly wide and illuminates just about everything in your visual field while still "throwing" reasonably well. It fits the hand well. An important upgrade on the II model is the addition of a micro USB port, making it possible to charge this light off any USB power source (e.g., while driving). Don't forget the three 18650 batteries ... but no need to buy a separate charger!

Zodi Hot Vent Tent Heater
As best I can tell, this model of Zodi tent heater is still unobtanium. It's a smaller 20,000 BTU version of Zodi's 40,000 BTU X-40. A forced air heater that requires propane and a 12V source to power the fan, it eliminates the worry about carbon monoxide as the furnace stays outside your tent or trailer. I have found the 40,000 BTU version to be too powerful for my small trailer, besides being large and bulky. I'm waiting for this model to become available. While a decent sleeping bag is all that's needed during the night, one of these should provide tents and trailers with a bedtime or early morning comfort boost during winter camping.

I was also going to say, that I do have one of those electronic/electric matches, but I moved from a trailer home into an apartment, so I haven't found it yet, but that uses butane, not sure whether it is refillable or not though.

73 and looking forward to the net, and if you see my link on Echolink, then please check me in, and thanks,
Bernie
