The WaterBob and similar products allow you to safely store water in a bathtub or other containment device, free from contaminants at a moments notice. Simply open the bladder in your bathtub and hook up to the faucet and fill. Stores up to about 100 gallons of water. This should be done at the first sign of problems to ensure that the city water is clean and available.

“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects”.

Amateur Radio Emergency Service® (ARES)
The Amateur Radio Emergency Service® (ARES) consists of licensed amateurs who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment, with their local ARES leadership, for communications duty in the public service when disaster strikes.
http://www.arrl.org/ares
RACES - "Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service," is a protocol created by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC Part 97, Section 407).
RACES operators are:
Licensed Radio Amateurs
Certified by a civil defense agency
Able to communicate on Amateur Radio frequencies during drills, exercises and emergencies
Activated by local, county and state jurisdictions and are the only Amateur Radio operators authorized to transmit during declared emergencies when the President of the United States specifically invokes the War Powers Act.

CERT - Community Emergency Response Team
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

Fieldbook: Scouting's Manual of Basic and Advanced Skills for Outdoor Adventure
The Boy Scouts of America's Fieldbook is a great source of information on outdoor skills, skills that will be important during survival situations. I prefer the 1960s and 1970s vintages, but the Fieldbook of today is still a great resource.
The Fieldbook is written in a simple to understand format, one that can be understood by the still mold-able brains of boys 11-18 years old (if you've ever been an Adult Scout Leader, you'll understand that last point). Why is this important? Because the Fieldbook is a great resource for helping your kids and/or less experienced adults, get ready for survival situations.
Get the Fieldbook here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JKY73L6/re ... TF8&btkr=1
The Fieldbooks are pretty easy to find in used bookstores and online, and don't seem to carry the huge prices associated with the older Boy Scout Handbooks that are near and dear to BSA collectors. Amazon had a used Fieldbook for $4 shipped.

- Remember, if you don't prepare your family, particularly your kids, then you are not prepared.
