Palomar repeater silent
Palomar repeater silent
It's been a LONG time since I heard anything on the San Diego area W6ZN Repeater at 449.300, 100.0, (-), yet it's still listed on your websites repeater list. What's going on?

It has been a long time! The owner, Erik, W6ZN, has been confirming the second rule of Ham Radio: "Things break down."
Erik was involved in several upgrades to his equipment when the break down occurred and then he had to do a lot of waiting until the replacement devices arrived. Unfortunately, there was a steep learning curve involved in getting it all to work.
I received an update from Erik tonight and he is planning to be on the air next week. Wish him luck!!!

Hah! Glad to see I'm not the only one hampered by a "steep learning curve" with current technology. Thanks to an antenna upgrade, I do get Keller in Ramona so all is not lost. Good luck Erik!

Well, Palomar was working for a while, now is silent again. Have they given up?

Good question! Erik seems to have a long term resident bug somewhere in his system. You are correct about Palomar's return, and then silence. I'll send him a note and see if I can find out what's happening and if we can help. Stay tuned.
Hopefully, you are still able to get Keller from your location!

UPDATE
I heard from Erik, and it looks like his "Fusion" repeater has been plagued by constant problems. So, it is being replaced. With a little luck, he should be back on the air soon.

I have not listened in a while so not sure if Palomar has been on lately but it was last night until the the reflector turned off about 3/4 of the way through the net.
