Looking for a check-in for the 09/17/20 continuation net. Thank you. KK6CTT, 73.

Frequencies (where to start):

o Do not depend on anyone to get your frequencies. There is a level of necessity that calls for the experience of using resources that will make you a better operator. Do not short change yourself. Get familiar with the functions of your radio while you are working through this.
o Use Proximity Search in Repeaterbook: https://www.repeaterbook.com/repeaters/prox.php
o Find the most prominent repeater in your area and run with it; simply listen. Find out what is hot and what is not.
o Listen to how they treat other hams.
o Try not to disturb "closed" or "private" systems until you know a lit bit about the "why" and then proceed with caution to save yourself the embarrassment of getting asked not to use the repeater. Although, may of these repeaters are civil about respectful visits.

.04 The results will get you on target quicker but it does not mean it is a complete list because many "closed" or "private" repeaters are nice to have programmed in and this is where a club, a membership or an Elmer can help you discern which frequency are truly valuable.

Also something to key in on. How to perfect a set of frequencies when traveling to new, remote, locations.

If there is an EchoLink system and a way to get into a linked system, you can call ahead and ask for local information on the status of repeaters in the area. Linked repeater systems sometimes allow you the opportunity to talk all over the county, state and even US which can really be a help when trying to determine which frequencies/repeaters are viable before heading out to locations unknown. Also, understanding you may be listening to a linked system will help you avoid asking unnecessary questions when the discussions do not seem to match the area you are trying to find out about. Not everyone will be contributing from the specific area you are asking about.
H-U-A or "Hooah!" = Heard Understood & Acknowledged. In context: "Roger that sir, HUA!"
