An Incredible 1st net

Post by Brucek » Thu Apr 24, 2008 10:38 pm

For those of you were in attendance for the start up of the OAUSA thursday nite net I'm sure you're aware of what a success it was. Dave and Ollie did an excellent job and there were (I believe) 24 log in's. Gordon gave an incredible talk on a portable HF installation and then took questions. It was great to hear "the man" speak. Guess I'm going to have to get motivated to get my general to have the capacity that HF will bring to my off-road communications. Allow me to re-iterate that the future success of this endeavor will depend on all of us. Please be assured that everyone's contribution is not only welcome but necessary for the continuation of interest in this net. The idea is that everyone has something to impart to everyone else. It's quite simple. You can either contribute a thread on the website or prepare a topic and present it on-air. As time goes on the net will either feature a guest speaker or be a round table of comments and ideas. If you would like to be a contributor on the net simply contact Dave or Ollie and they can schedule a nite for you to be in the "spotlite". Based on the comments during the login's, the interest in having a vehicle for those of us who are excited about exploration and Ham radio is definately out there. Let's make it work for all of us. It's a unique opportunity. Thanks again Dave, Ollie, Gordon and of course the Keller Peak Repeater Association and all who have made this a reality. :D

Thanks for posting this Bruce... I tried to contribute a bit more but by the end of the net my Echolink was only good for RX. I couldn't TX. I'm working the bugs out of it. Next week should be much better. :D

I tried to make it. I've got Echolink up and running now so I'll try to make the next net. Congrats everyone.

Well, well, well. Now thats an encouraging word and its exactly why we feel these nets and the website are important. The more people who are motivated to get licensed or upgrade, the better. Way to set the pace, Bruce.
