At the closing bell of tonight's show, I asked if anyone had experience with 'wine auctions.' 'Auction' is really the wrong word for the process that I remember. I remember getting intrigued by the concept but figured the last thing I needed, when I'm supposed to be focused on my work, was my phone binging about some wine bargain. I'm retired now, it's okay if my phone bings about a wine offer...
What I remember was a 'club' one could sign up for. Then, once a day or so, you'd get an SMS text, "We have 137 cases of <yada> at $23 a case. Reply with a case-# to reserve." They were picking up close-outs and selling 'em off at discount prices.
I couldn't find any of the sites I used to look at, maybe they all folded? Maybe my google-foo failed me this time?
This was the closest sort of operation I could find --
https://winelibrary.com/wine-text
Which is different from the 'wine of the month' clubs where they send you a case of their picks --
https://best-wine-clubs.wineclubreviews ... bscription
I'd be happy to hear anyone else's experiences with 'discount wine by delivery.'

I have no knowledge of wine auctions, precisely as you describe them.
I am familiar however, with wine clubs that function (sort of) similar to what you describe. The first is a membership to individual clubs, offered by most wineries, where you get periodic shipments, which often allow you to select your wines. This is, of course, limited to the winery to which you belong, but your membership also gives you a a discount for all other wines from that winery, as well as a certain amount of free tastings.
The second one is a a club that pre-selects wines from various wineries, and ships them out periodically.
Are either of these along the lines of what you described?
