Saturday Evening Cook-Off and Pre-Dinner Activities
Saturday Evening Cook-Off and Pre-Dinner Activities
One of the highlights of Borrego Fest has been the Saturday Pot Luck Cook-Off dinner. Our chefs are "well seasoned" experts, and while we don't necessarily declare a winning chef, the winners are always those who get to enjoy some excellent outdoor cuisine. This well attended affair has always impressed, and this year should be no exception. If you have a special recipe, we invite you to join the others at the chef's table. We are asking for the cooperation of everyone attending to help make this dinner a success, whether it is with an entree, salad, desert, or other tasty dish.
NOTE: For those who do not wish to participate in the group meals, we welcome you at the dinner table, if you want, with your own food.
But, if you're not a camp chef, you can still contribute with beverages, paper goods, deserts, firewood, etc. We have a list below for everyone to volunteer.
In addition to the Camp Cook-Off, our official wine tasting has become a popular part of the Saturday night festivities. Our wine experts will be supplying a number of wines for everyone (over 21) to taste. So, make sure to bring a good wine GLASS and a willingness to taste some fine vintages. Bruce, Kevin, Jack, TomS, DaveK and others will have several appetizers to go along with the wine tasting. If you would like to make a contribution, let us know.
Due to the enormous success of the way we have held the Outdoor Adventure USA Cook-Off in previous years, we will be following that model again this year. Specifically, the appetizer and the official wine tasting, as well as dinner, will take place at the campsite and will be essentially one affair. For those who will be preparing a dish for dinner, we will plan on starting the appetizer/wine tasting around 4:00PM and the dinner, around 6:30 (maybe 7:00PM).

I can do a beer tasting in conjunction with beer and cheese pairing.
It would also be fun to pair the same cheeses with different wines.

Verenas Brownies
Hot sauces(many) with Friday evening tasting
Appetizers(a few)
Potluck- Chicken Picatta
Desert- Dutch Oven Bundt Cake?
Coffee
Igloo cooler with ice water.
Etc, etc!
Thought about hot links cooked on my BuddiPole antenna. What is the proper band if I have 100 watts out?

Re: Saturday Evening Cook-Off and Pre-Dinner Activities
I'm planning on making an entrée for the potluck. I'm still looking at recipes. I was thinking of something different but not too difficult like a shepherd's pie.

Shepard’s pie would be great! If you were to make two, we could have one for breakfast with some eggs on top.
Just a suggestion.
Thanks
