2022 Borrego Fest Sign-Up, General Information, and Planning

Welcome everyone!!! It's time to start planning for Borrego Fest 2022. The dates are set for September 30 through October 2, 2022 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday.). This is a family event which will include trail runs, hiking trails, ham radio testing, a potluck dinner, wine tasting, Ham radio demonstrations and more.

OAUSA depends on the donations from this event, and Summer Fest, to help it stay in operation. Campsite fees, website expenses and maintenance all add up, and OAUSA is comprised of a completely volunteer, unpaid staff. In fact, not one of us has made or taken a single penny in compensation during our 15 years of operation. We have done our best to keep the fees reasonable, but inflation and high demand have had a huge impact on prices for campgrounds, especially ones where there are great amenities and activities. In addition to the amenities of the campsite itself, OAUSA offers great food, wine tasting, appetizers, adult beverages following dinners, Amateur Radio License testing, HF radio demonstrations, and a lot more, all of which make this event so special. We ask that all who can, please join us for Borrego Fest 2022.

Here is part of what to expect this year in the Anza Borrego Desert

PLEASE NOTE

Be sure to read this entire post as there are several changes that we have made from past events.

This year marks a change for us as we are returning to a location which we have used numerous time in the past - Stage Coach Trails Campground. Stage Coach is located a few miles from Tamarisk Grove (last year.) As we left our old camp last year, we couldn't resist the temptation to check out something new. To our surprise and delight, we discovered that Stagecoach had significantly upgraded the entire camp, including the deli, the camp store, and the campsites. The decision was easy. The best and quickest way to pay for the weekend is through the "Donate" button located at the bottom of each page in the Forums. Update 9/29: Won’t be going after all. My daughter was bitten by a big Labrador while trying to protect her doxiehuahua. The Lab slipped out of its harness while being walked and attacked. My daughter got stitches and a tetanus booster, and seems okay, but needs to be watched for signs of infection over the next few days. Her dog was also bitten, less severely, though also needs to be watched for infection.

I regret to again be missing out on an OAUSA event, but will look forward to the next “expedition”.

I’m sure everyone will have a good time!
